עיתונאי ישראלי שבוודאי לא חשוד בימניות יתר (אבינועם בר-יוסף) ראיין אישית את יאסין ב-1988, והוא כתב: "הייתי אז ראש הדסק הפלסטיני בעיתון היומי מעריב. יאסין הביע את הדעות הקיצוניות ביותר ששמעתי אי פעם. השמדת המדינה היהודית הייתה (עבורו) רק מטרה חלקית בדרך לחיסול תרבות המערב "הפגאנית"  (כופרת)."

More than 100,000 of them had emigrated.  And in August, the Times of Israel revealed that more than 500 Gazans leave the strip each month for medical treatment abroad, with the Israeli authorities facilitating their travel."
