לפי מסמכים שהגיעו ל"ניו יורק טיימס", בפגישה ב-2023 אמר בכיר בצה"ל כי המנהרות לא יהוו פקטור במלחמה עתידית מול חמאס, בגלל עוצמת צה"ל. זה כמובן הוכח אחרת לחלוטין.
