I will not allow us to replace Hamastan with Fatahstan, replace Khan Yunis with Jenin. I will not allow Israel to repeat Oslo, which brought to the heart of our country and to Gaza, the most extreme elements in the Arab world, which are committed to the destruction of the State of Israel and who educate their children to this end. The debate between Hamas and Fatah is not 'whether' to eliminate the State of Israel but 'how' to do it. According to a poll that was carried out a few days ago, 82% of the Palestinian population in Judea and Samaria justifies the horrific massacre of October 7th. As of this moment, the Palestinian Authority senior leadership simply refuses to condemn the massacre and some of them even praise it openly. They will control Gaza on 'the day after'? Haven't we learned anything? As the Prime Minister of Israel, I will not allow that to happen. לגבי בני הערובה הישראלים, משפחות ישראליות, כמו עמיתיהם האמריקאים, יכולות לפנות לפרלמנטים בכל מדינה להכריז על קטאר כמדינה נותנת חסות לטרור - יש לכך הוכחות רבות, כולל תביעות משפטיות שמתנהלות בארה"ב ובאירופה. עליהם לבקש ממדינות כמו צ'כיה, שמדיניותן ועקרונותיהן ראויים להערצה, לפנות נגד קטאר, בשמם, לבית הדין הפלילי הבינלאומי (ICC). הם צריכים לנסוע לגרמניה, שחייבת כל כך הרבה למדינה היהודית, ולבקש ממנה לפתוח את התיק בבית הדין הבינלאומי. לכל הפחות, הם יכולים לבקש מגרמניה לתת לבני הערובה דרכונים גרמניים, כמו שעשה ראול ולנברג במלחמת העולם השנייה.

UK Ambassador Barbara Woodward said that her country abstained from the resolution
as the text needed to be clearer on Israel’s inherent right to self-defence,
and because it ignored the fact that extremist group Hamas, which controls Gaza, is using Palestinian civilians as human shields.
“They [Hamas] have embedded themselves in civilian communities and made the Palestinian people their victims too,” she said.
She reiterated the UK’s support for Israel’s right to
defend itself against Hamas,

and strengthen its security in the long term,

הבסיס המשפטי למאבק סביב ההגירה נעוץ באמנות בינלאומיות הנוגעות לפליטים, בצד פרשנות רדיקלית לזכויות אדם אוניברסליות ותוך התעלמות מריבונות המדינה שבה מבקשים המהגרים להיקלט. הרעיון הפרוגרסיבי המרכזי הוא שזכויות האדם גוברות על ריבונות המדינה וזכויות תושביה. לפיכך, יש להתעלם מהעובדה שהמהגרים פורצים את גבולות המדינה ללא רשות, ויש לדון בבקשותיהם למעמד של פליט כאילו הגיעו למדינה כדין.

מדינות מזרח אירופה, ובהן הונגריה, פולין וצ'כיה, פשוט סירבו לקבל את המדיניות האירופית הנוגעת לפליטים - מה שהביא להתנגשות בינן לבין האיחוד האירופי. באנגליה גרמה בעיית המהגרים לפרישתה מהאיחוד האירופי (ברקזיט). הפרישה יצרה קרע שלא התאחה עד היום בין מתנגדי המהלך (ובהם בעלי אינטרסים כלכליים שנפגעו על ידיו) לבין תומכיו.
בימים אלה אימצה אנגליה חוק מרחיק לכת נגד הגירה בלתי חוקית, הקובע בין היתר שמי שהגיע לאנגליה שלא כחוק ייעצר ולא יהיה זכאי לבקש מעמד של פליט. נטען שהחוק מנוגד למשפט הבינלאומי, הניצב כעת בפני מציאות שלא נחזתה בימים שבהם גובשו העקרונות הנוגעים לפליטים.

Rav Hayyim Ben Yitzhak, father of the modern yeshiva movement, and the Land of Israel
Rav Hayyim Ben Yitzhak of Volozhin was considered to be the Vilna Gaon’s most important student.
The Volozhin Yeshiva which he founded in 1802 (later called the Eitz Hayyim Yeshiva in his memory), became the prototype for all Lithuanian yeshivot and later for all yeshivot until today.

- He was personally in charge of the funds raised in Volozhin for those living in the Land of Israel.
- He was personally involved in supporting the Gaon’s students’ aliya to Israel in 1808.
- He taught the spiritual level of the Land of Israel: “We know for sure from the Gaon, and Rabbi Hayyim of Volozhin concerning money sent for holy purposes here [in Israel, that] he said, The Torah and [Divine] service done [in the land of Israel] even for a quarter of an hour, is more dear to God than the study of your yeshivot every day in the impure lands.”
